Swamped!

Didn't have time to do a regular post today so this is sort of a fly by. Still working on the synopsis but desperately wish I had more time. I'm just not sure the story elements are strong enough and I know I could get there if I had time to sit down and develop it further, but I don't. The synopsis is drafted and sitting at 7.5 pgs, so 2.5 of that has to be cut. I'm hoping to use the character arc to try and trim things down, concentrate more on the character growth than external plot. But I just don't know the characters well enough yet to get this bang on. Part of me thinks, maybe I shouldn't submit something that isn't ready yet, but the other part of me is saying screw it and take the chance. At least the editor can give you some feedback that might lead you in the right direction. So off I go, to continue hacking away in the short timeframe I have left!

I did manage an update over at Fab at Forty as well.

Good luck. And I think you're right - submit it and get feedback.

Definitely submit the synopsis/first chapter. Your voice and characters are strong. She can see what you're all about even if you feel you need more time with your story. It sounds like none of us feel like we're ready - but we're probably in better shape than we think.

Submitting is a scary thing - Julia's right. We never think you're ready. But we have to take that step sooner rather than later, I think.

Oddly, I don't find submitting too scary. It's just submitting something I don't feel is top notch that I have a problem with. But at the same time I don't want to miss an opportunity.

Good luck! Feedback sounds good. Even if you submit it as you think is ready, they might still have 'feedback' anyway.
