I managed to beat my synopsis down from 7.5 pages to 5.75 pages. Just a little more tweaking to go and I think I’m good. Well not good, I’m still not thrilled with how the thing reads, but let’s hope the first chapter and its 25 pages work to balance that out.
I’ve decided to eliminate one scene in the first chapter and bring elements of it into the last scene, which will allow me a few pages of leeway to go back and build more characterization and description into what is left.
Unfortunately, I have 3 ball games to play tomorrow which means my time is going to be really limited as far as getting this done. So if anyone out there knows how to slow or stop time—call me. I’s gots a job for you.

Beating down your synopsis - a perfect image. Rather like a metal smith hammering away at a bowl.
Glad to hear it's become a 5.75!
Remember - you don't have to make it perfect! I think a synopsis is more of a roadmap for the agent/editor to follow. They'll see your true writing voice in your actual novel.
Good luck with that synopsis! And have fun playing ball :-)
Congrats on revamping the synopsis. I HATE synopsis' I had to write one last night, and I know it blows. Have fun with the games today!
