From Rainy Weekend to Revision Hell

Well not necessarily Hell, but a reasonable facsimile this morning. I had rearranged one scene, moved it to a different locale and switched POV. Trying to replace what I needed and remove what I didn’t proved more of a chore than my brain was ready for this morning. I think I finally managed to get it straight but I’ll have to wait until tomorrow when I re-read it to know for sure.

As for the weekend, Saturday I spent traipsing about downtown Halifax running errands with my sister. Managed to get soaked because it wouldn’t stop raining. Then I spent most of Sunday sitting on my couch reading Bet Me by Jennifer Crusie. I didn’t quite finish but that is the first time in about five years that I’ve spent most of a day doing nothing but reading. Softball was rained out so I took advantage of the opportunity. From 8:30 am to 1:30 am I sat there and read. Then my butt fell asleep, my back stiffened up and my muscles began to atrophy so I went for a walk (got soaked again…still raining). I have about 25 pages left of the book. This is my first Jennifer Crusie book, not to mention the first contemporary romance I’ve read in a looooong time. I’m loving it. Great characters, great emotion, and more one-liners than I can keep track of. I’ll definitely read more of hers.

Took my usual weekly trek to the bookstore last night. Here’s an odd thing that happens to me. I come up with a new idea for a book and then as I’m perusing the discount books at Chapters I always seem to find the one research book I need to flesh out the idea. It happened again last night. A book on flower shops from Victorian times to present day. It was marked down to $9.99 so I grabbed it. Then I came home and watched The Wedding Date with Dermot Mulroney and Debra Messing last night. I had forgotten how much I loved this movie. I definitely need to put this on my ‘to be purchased list’.

I managed to get some reading done this weekend, as well. Read a lot Friday night until I fell asleep (before 8 p.m.!) and then on Saturday, as well. I'm reading Robert Ludlum's "The Bourne Identity" which is completely different than the movie.

I've never read any of Jennifer Cruisie, but I think I shall grab one of hers soon.

Hope it will stop raining on you at some point!!

Glad you had a relaxing Sunday AND found yourself a new research book :-)

Revisions really CAN be hell at times. But usually they're worth it *g*.

In "The Wedding Date," didn't you think Dermot Mulroney was a little old for the part? I kept thinking about that when I was watching the movie.

I'm the same way as you at B&N. I find tons of ideas in the discount section. I found all these books on witchcraft and Druids, so I've got several stories in mind using these books.

Loved Bet Me and Getting Rid of Bradley.

I've been doing a lot more reading lately after an almost 3 month hiatus.

Revision hell should not be conquered until the brain is fully awake.
