When I Grow Up...

When I grow up, I've decided I want to be Teresa Medeiros. Or a reasonable facsimile. I'm not all that picky, really. I had the opportunity to meet her in Reno at the book signing and she was super nice, offering to answer any questions I had and giving me her card. I picked up Yours Until Dawn while I was there and read it shortly after returning home. Loved it! Loooooved it. After Midnight came out shortly thereafter and I snatched it up and am about a quarter of the way through it now. I'm finding it hard to put down. As a reader, I'm captivated by the story; as a writer, I'm fascinated by her style and voice. I find myself looking at sentences and thinking, how did she come up with that, what was she thinking that brought that into being? So now I'm going to have to hunt down her backlist and add it to my shelves. Which reminds me, I need more bookshelves. The piles on my floor have become a tripping hazard.

In the GH update, I got everything off to my critique partner by Sunday morning, and by Sunday evening she had returned it all to me. So right now I'm doing some little clean up jobs to the manuscript, then I have to tackle the synopsis (I can write a good synopsis, I can write a good synopsis - that's my positive thinking chant this week), print everything off, burn the full to a CD and get it off in the courier by Friday morning.

Which means I have four days. But I'm not panicking. Really. Not at all.

Me again. How strange. I just read about Teresa on your blog and then I went on over to the Avon board and they're talking about her too. I'm heading to chapters today so I think I'll pick up After Midnight. I'll add it to my teetering TBR pile...

You CAN write a good synopsis. You CAN write a good synopsis. Figure you need an extra chorus or two of the mantra *g*.

How are you going to celebrate Friday once it's gone?

Oops - meant to mention, I like TM as well. Haven't read her more recent books, but enjoyed some of her earlier ones. And she's super supportive of the unpubbed writer :-)

Ah yes, the inevitable celebration. Actually a bunch of the RWAC girls are going out Friday night to see Pride & Prejudice as a reward. Can't wait!

Way cool! Sounds like a great way to celebrate :-) I want to see it, but might have to wait till we're out in BC to do it (we leave next week).

I have a mini of champagne waiting for me, but depending on how I feel by Friday, I may have to move up to a full-sized bottle *g*.

Good luck with that synopsis!!

Of COURSE you can write a good synopsis, Kelly!!!

I have some of TM's books, but haven't read any of them yet. And I need to get more bookshelves, as well! But isn't too many books a lovely problem to have?

Definitely! You can never have too many books.

Congratulations Kelly. Putting Teresa Medieros on my TBB list. My oldest daughter and I went to see P&P today. I loved it. She thought it was weird. But what do you expect from a 16 yr old?

Now, now. _I_ am going to be Teresa Medeiros when I grow up. You'll have to stand in line. She is the most amazing author and person. I loved Yours Until Dawn.
