The New TV Season

I love television. Love it. Not just any television, but mostly the hour long dramas. The only half hour comedy I manage to sit through without flicking after the first few minutes would be Arrested Development, a smart, dark comedy that is probably one of the best written shows on the air. I'm glad its been brought back for another season.

There are usually one or two new shows each season that I become hooked on and will stay with until they reach their conclusion. Last year it was Lost and Grey's Anatomy. Before that there was Alias, West Wing and 24.

Now, with the new season underway, I am already hooked on this year's favorite, a show I caught by accident, fifteen minutes into it's first episode a few weeks back. It started earlier than the other shows, getting the jumpstart so as not to get caught in the glut, I'm guessing. Smart move, but I would have been hooked on this show either way.

Prison Break is a well-written, twisting and turning drama that has everything - political intrigue, an innocent man convicted to die in the electric chair, a ticking clock, good guys, bad guys, the mafia, potential love stories (and no, not with the inmates, although there was that creepy guy in the first few episodes who wanted Michael to hang on to his pocket...). Everyone in this show has an interesting back story and the whole thing just keeps you riveted. And to top it all off - there's the hot guy factor in full force. It's one of those shows you watch and think, damn, I wish I had written that myself. So if you haven't seen it yet, it's on Fox on Monday nights and is well worth checking out.

The only ones that I would say really have me hooked are Miami Ink and Intervention. Ghost Whisperer has my interest peaked but I can't stand that lollipop head Jennifer Love Hewitt so I dunno. I'm still mourning no Queer As Folk on Monday nights.

We axed our cable a few years ago in order to cut back on our bills. I can get a few channels with our antennae, but other than that, we watch movies. I actually don't miss television - it really sucked away my time. I could never stop watching!

Thanks for the tip! Haven't seen that one yet, but I may give it a shot. :)
