Say It Ain't So, Noel

Sigh...guess I better stock up on goodies on my way home. Thank God I have the Alphie to write with if the power goes out!

Rainfall warning for: Halifax Metro and Halifax County West
Wind warning for: Halifax Metro and Halifax County West

Issued at 3:42 PM ADT FRIDAY 2 NOVEMBER 2007

RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 50 TO 70 MILLIMETRES SATURDAY.
SOUTHEASTERLY WINDS GUSTING UP TO 100 KM/H SATURDAY AND SOUTHWESTERLY WINDS GUSTING TO 120 KM/H SATURDAY NIGHT.

Post Tropical Storm Noel will approach Nova Scotia Saturday around midnight. The main threat with this storm will be high winds, heavy rain, and pounding ocean waves (Um gee...have we left anything out? Tornado warning? Did you want to throw that in too?).

Gusty southeasterly winds up to 100 km/h will develop Saturday afternoon over Nova Scotia with winds gusting to 140 km/h into the evening. (Hm...when I think gusty, I think of a stiff breeze. This seems more than a stiff breeze...)

Winds will gust as high as 120 km/h Saturday night with gusts up to 140 km/h possible. These winds could lead to downed trees and power outages. (Great...this could seriously impede my regular coffee and eggo consumption).

Rainfall amounts of 50 to 70 millimetres are expected over much of the province. Conditions forecast to gradually improve on Sunday. High water levels along the Northumberland Strait are expected for Saturday night.
(Tito - fetch my golashes good man!)

Yeah, I heard about that on the news this morning!! We had the remnants of a tropical storm come through here just over a week ago. Same kinda thing.

WTG on your NaNo word count so far :) At least with Alphie, you can write even if the power goes out (thought I hope it doesn't).

Yuck!! I don't mind rain or wind but this is just crazy. And I'm on a well so if the power goes out, so does the water pump.

Batten down the hatches.

Yikes! I hope you'll be okay.

Congrats on the NaNo count!

Sounds like it really will be a dark and stormy night! Hope you don't have any major problems. Just stay in and if the power holds, write. I love writing when the weather is bad.

I think you're going to end up with two novels by the end of NaNo, at this rate!

Yes, I like how they're not calling Noel a hurricane, but are forecasting 'hurricane-force winds' of 120kmh. Hmm. If I remember correctly, Hurricane Juan was 120kmh.
