Who Is This Guy Anyway?

Well the plotting is coming along fine, but my hero still remains nameless. He is now simply being referred to as HERO. It's driving me crazy. I've never had such a hard time finding a name for my hero before. Probably because I already had one, but when a senior editor says 'Mmm...that's got to change' who am I to argue.

Okay maybe I wanted to argue a little. After all, Elizabeth Boyle has a secondary character in This Rake of Mine who has the name Dash. But whatever. Anyway, I keep trying to come up with a name that matches the face and the character but I'm getting nothing. Lots of great names, just nothing that...fits. Argh. Argh argh argh!

Argh.

Damn stupid hero.

Calm...calm...find my happy place...find my happy place...

Okay, meanwhile back in a relatively more sane world, tomorrow I will be doing an author interview with Cathryn Fox, who has a new book coming out on November 7th. This is her first Avon release, so tune in tomorrow where we'll have a chat with the always entertaining Ms. Fox.

Hmm...maybe she can name my hero...

Names are important and can really define a character, so I understand your frustration. Hope you find a new name soon! :-)

I just went to www.babynames.com and looked up Dash. It means "from the ash". Just above it there was a name Dareth, meaning "dark". That may not be the name for you either, but play around the site and see what tickles your fancy. :)

I had a character called theherowhorefusedtobenamed...and he lived with that for quite awhile...

Don't worry. It'll come. Don't try so hard. Although, I know that's easier said than done. Good luck!

You know when I first read Kacey's comment, I thought she called him the hero whore. Oops. (grins)

Good luck on your name quest!
