My Back is a Box of Rice Krispies

First off, just to prove how tired I am today, instead of typing in blogger.com, I typed in booger.com -- then looked at it stupidly trying to figure out why it didn't look quite right...

Anyway, needless to say I'm dead on my feet, forget about the brain. Even my fingers are hitting all the wrong keys today. I tossed and turned most of the night with back pain. I went to chiro yesterday after missing my last regular appointment. When he did the adjustments, my body sounded like a box of rice krispies with all the snap, crackle, pop. But I felt great afterwards. Then last night when I went to meet with my critique group at Starbucks, out of nowhere my back stiffened up, like the muscle decided to atrophy all of a sudden. No twinges or anything, just complete utter stiffness like when you overwork a muscle and it doesn't want to work anymore.

And of course this is the weekend my two cord pile of firewood is being delivered and has to be stacked in the shed. Maxx has offered to help, but I'm not sure she realizes what she's in for. This is, at best, a two-day stop only for the occasional meal work straight thru til it's done kind of job. I have these fears of her taking one look at the pile and hightailing back to her section of town and pretending she doesn't know me.

My back feels a bit better today, still a bit stiff but not as bad. Maybe by tomorrow it will have worn off completely. We'll see.

Meanwhile, back on the writing front...I'm 99% sure I'm going to enter Brimstone in the Emily. I have to make a final decision soon because the receipt date for submissions is Oct 4th and I want to send it off in plenty of time to get down to Houston from NS. I haven't entered Brimstone in any contests yet and this one is a good one, so I might take the plunge. Provided I can come up with the quid for courier costs and entry fee. On the plus side--they don't ask for a synopsis, so it'll just mean tweaking and cleaning up the chapter to submit.

And that's all folks...now I'm going to try and slip under my desk for some shut eye. Sshhh...don't tell my bosses...

Wood, schmood. I'm all up for the exercise since I've gotten none this week and don't want to put those 10 lbs back on I sweat off last week with the flu. And with Papa Joe coming up, I bet we'll have an extra set of hands.

Two sets is probably all we really need. Since there's only one wheelbarrow (is that even spelled right...?)

wheelbarrel? I have no idea.

booger.com sounds right to me. *gg*

Sorry your back is bothering you - hopefully it'll get better soon.

Sounds like you have a plan for Brimstone - hope it goes well.

Yikes on your back! Hope it's better soon :-)

As for stacking wood, hope you and Maxx get good weather for it. At least it's great exercise!

Oh, and I'm pretty certain it's "wheelbarrow".

LOL It is wheelbarrow. But, I confess, I wasn't sure either so I looked it up.

Yoga helped me when I was having back problems. Might be worth a try.

Good luck with the contest!

Oh man. Back pain sucks. But thank goodness for chiropractors. I visited one for my tension headache and had the same snap, crackle, and pop in my neck. But I felt so much better afterwards.

Hope your back gets to feeling better!

The Emily must be a good contest, see lots of people entering. Good Luck.

Hope your back feels better soon but be very careful with loading up that wood.

So, what happens when you type in booger.com? I might try it 'cause I'm intrigued.

I'm thinking about entering the Emily too. I've made so many revisions since my last contest entries, I'm curious to see if this version resonates with the judges more.

Good luck with the back. Backpain is the worst.

I feel for your back. And it sounds like your weekend isn't going to help. Large quantities of alcohol at night should help.

Good luck on the Emily. I thought about entering but I took a blood oath never to enter a contest again.

Ouch back pain sucks! I used to see a chiro and I loved it. I hope yours feels better. And definitely sub to a contest! You can get great feedback.
