Another good day. Glad I left it off yesterday with an idea to dive into. Makes it much easier. So in I dove and ended up with 2,250 words for the day, bringing my total to 11,250 words. It's amazing how much you can get down when you're not agonizing over every word or sentence structure or plot thread. Each time I get the urge to edit as I go, I chant Nora Roberts, "I can edit anything but a blank page...I can edit anything but a blank page..." And that seems to keep me going.
Speaking of Nora, I really enjoyed the interview they did with her in the August RWR. Very funny. I like her attitude about writing.
In other news, spent last night helping my sister and soon to be brother-in-law move things out of storage. It was actually a lot of fun, which is something you don't hear about moving very often. And they gave me a wooden chest to say thank you. Nice and big so I can store lots of yarn in it. It really is nice having a carpenter in the family. One of these days when I get some extra money I'm going to hire him to build me some new furniture. He did all of the furniture for my nephew's room and holy crap it's amazing stuff. I wish I could do that. If I had it all to do over again that's what I'd take up. I had always loved carpentry growing up but in school it was always, 'you're the smart kid, so you go to college'. No one ever told you about the other options. The stuff you might actually want to do. I quit university the day before classes started because in the end I knew the idea of sitting in a classroom for another four years was just not for me. But I hadn't really been conditioned for anything else. If I'd known then what I know now, I wonder how things would have been different.
Although, in a way, I think I went the route I should have because it got me where I am today.
Anyway, enough musings. I'm off to the day job. It's bbq in the parking lot day. And who said work couldn't be fun?

Congratulations on this week's page count. I loved that Nora interview as well.
It's always fun to go back and look at the path our lives have taken to get us to the point we're at today. :-)
You're doing wonderful on the BIAW!!!
From a purely it's-all-about-me standpoint, I'm glad you skipped both higher education and learning a trade, and became a writer. Where on earth would I be without El Presidente?
Amazing five day total, Kelly!! And cool re the chest.
As for uni - my parents expected my sister and me to go and thank God we both wanted to. Though my mum didn't go, she did very well for herself. Uni is one of those things, AFAIC, that you do if you WANT to, not because you feel you HAVE to. There are many paths to success in this world, and uni is only one of them. From the sound of your life and your level of contentment, you made the right choice :-)
Congrats on the writing progress! The article by Nora was really good.
Wow! Your BIAW is gong well. Keep up the fabulous work! You've actually inspired me to take a peek at my maunscript tonight. You know, the one I haven't touched in at least a week.
Yay on the wordcount!!!!
My father was a Master carpenter and refused to teach me anything because I'm a girl and "we" don't need to know that stuff. Before you jump on his poor departed soul - he was of the WWII generation. I'd have been a lot angrier at him otherwise.
