I Feel Sullied & Unusual...

That line is going to go through my head for a good long time now. Any of you who have seen Pirates of the Caribbean will know what I'm talking about. It keeps playing in my head and I can't help but laugh.

I went to see Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest last night. I liked it. More so the last half than the first. The first needed some tightening up, a little less concentration on Captain Jack and his antics and a little more on setting up the plot and conflicts. Don't get me wrong, Jack's fun to watch, but I think in playing more to that aspect they lost the chance to strengthen the story elements.

The last half, on the other hand, was a lot of fun and action and hilarity, with a few good tension filled scenes that amped things up. I won't tell you what they were in case some of you haven't gone yet. And the ending had Maxx and I reminiscing about the cliffhanger from Empire Strikes Back in our youth. The special effects were awesome, quite seamless so that you didn't really think much about them until after the movie was over and done with.

Overall, not as good as the first one I don't think, but the set up for the third installment was brilliant and I'm looking forward to it. I'd give it 3.75 stars out of 5 -- 2.5 for the first half and 5 for the second half.

Because we went to the late show though, I didn't get home and into bed until 1 AM, which made dragging my sorry butt out of bed at 5:45 AM a major feat. Especially after only a couple of hours the night before thanks to Coop and her distaste of lightening storms. Oddly, I still managed to get some really good writing done this morning, reworking a scene and coming up with a great new idea. Unfortunately, I don't think that creative burst of energy is going to last throughout the day. It's entirely likely I'll pass out from exhaustion and do a face plant into my keyboard at work around 11 AM.

Glad you liked Pirates. But wasn't there one scene in particular that just sort of punched you in the gut? I know there was for me!

There were a few, but I won't list them here so as not to spoil it for the rest of you that haven't seen it!

I'm with you all the way on the movie, Kelly. Fun, but.... Can hope that # 3 is a little more streamlined.

OMG! I can't take it! I just have to go to see this movie this weekend. But my goddaughters and one of their friends want to come with so I might be able to. *sighs*

This is one of maybe 2 movies I can think of in my lifetime that I want to go see again before it leaves the theatre. I think I'm on my own there though.

I really need to see this movie. I loved the first one.

You went to bed at 1am and got up at 5:45am. WOW. That would make me, and everybody around me, crabby all day long.

I just saw it this afternoon. I liked it quite a bit. However, I did make the mistake of taking my 6 year old. It was way too scary for her. Plus some of the themes ran a little deep. My 10 year old was fine with it. I also liked how the filmakers added touches of the PoC ride in the movie.

I noticed that too. Especially that area where Noridge shows up to sign up and there's a big fight. Looked just like the ride so much I wondered if they filmed it there.
