The Weekend Update

Another rainy weekend here in soggy, water-logged Nova Scotia. Although all in all I managed to keep myself entertained. Saturday morning I kicked back and read the Idiot's Guide to HTML and discovered how freakishly simple html actually was. Then I made a quick trip to the library to pick up some holds (Land of the Dead and the Dummies Guide to Publisher 2000). Picked up my sister and ran some errands which mostly consisted of us drooling over things we wanted and couldn't afford, stopping in at Starbucks for a latte and then groceries where I managed to stretch two weeks of food out of $25. The rain stopped long enough for me to go out for my walk and later that night Maxx stopped by for our weekly writing session where we, once again didn't write a thing for the third week in a row. Really gotta rectify that situation. We did manage to finish off the bottle of red wine though. Hmm...maybe that's where we're going wrong.

Sunday I woke fairly early. More rain. I read Faking It by Jennifer Crusie but after a bit grew shack whacky, so ended up at the Flea Market with Maxx by 11:30 AM. And good gawd but there are all manner of life trolling through there. Some of it downright scary. It's like a melting pot of every type of person you could imagine. Makes you want to just stand off to the side and take notes to use later. Too bad I left my notebook at home. The wood working and DVDs were calling my name, but I refrained. Mostly because when I opened my wallet it laughed at me mockingly. Sigh. Maybe another day.

Came home, finished reading Faking It, made some notes for the contemporary, started Tell Me Lies (More Jennifer Crusie. That's the thing about putting books on hold at the library, they all seem to come in at once.) Headed back out to Starbucks to meet Maxx for our weekly Sunday coffee, but she never showed. Wandered the aisles of Chapters and cried inwardly over all the books I wanted and couldn't afford. Came home and found out the clutch went in Maxx's car as she was backing out of the parking lot, hence the no show.

Went downstairs and logged onto eBay and watched as the bidding on the alphasmart I wanted finished. At the last minute my finger hovered over the button to make a final bid. I wanted it sooooo bad I could taste it. But the finger never landed. From two floors up I could hear my Visa card laughing. Mockingly. I'm sensing a pattern here. Sigh. I waved dejectedly as someone else walked away with the Alphasmart 3000 and resigned myself to the fact that I had to pay for the dress for my sister's wedding, the shoes, the strapless bra to go with the dress, the shower, the shower gift, the dress alterations and the wedding gift before I could even begin to think about the Alphasmart.

With that depressing thought, I stuck in Land of the Dead on the DVD player and consoled myself with two hours of Simon Baker as he battled the undead. Of which I had a lovely picture of but @#$%ing blogger wouldn't let me upload YET AGAIN. Grrr... I hate being aggravated this early on a Monday morning. It does not bode well for the rest of the week.

Thank you for clarifying exactly why I was a no show. And thank you for reminding me I have to call the garage yet again and fork over MORE money. Sigh.

I was going to say you were abducted by aliens because that would be way more exciting, but I'm not sure anyone would have believed me.

Why won't the blogger let you put the pictures in?

Beats me. It does this sometimes. It's been persnickity.

Sorry about not winning the Alphasmart. Maybe you'll win the lottery instead. :)

Anyone who knew me might not be surprised I was abducted by aliens I suspect

Your Visa laughs too? I just get out the duct tape and shut it up. *gg*

Hi Kelly! I've been having trouble posting pics on Blogger all weekend too...I thought it was just me.

It's been raining all weekend here in Orlando, too. I'm so over it. I need to see some SUN!
