Rainy Day Meanderings

Woke up this morning to rain coming down. Hunkered down stairs, brewed up the java and settled into the couch to continue on with my read through revisions. I usually do my revisions in two stages. A read through where I take notes, and then the second pass where I incorporate the notes, the third time to read through and see if all the changes worked, and then the fourth time for a clean up and final read through. So far things are going pretty good. I’m finding plenty of areas to insert more drama and change or cut things out to rev up the pacing. I hit one section this morning where I’m not even sure I need the chapter. It contains a few necessary elements, but the chapter itself I’m not so sure about. I’m debating taking it out, juggle what I need from it elsewhere. It will make a big change (not to mention free up some much needed word count). The scenes to come will be altered because of it, but I think ultimately that will be a good thing.

This weekend sounds like more rain. Normally I take the weekends off from writing, but I feel like powering on, trying to finish the read through/notes especially if softball gets cancelled. I don’t have any plans save for my niece’s first birthday party, just a small family get together on Sunday evening. So I might just hide out for the most part and work through.

I have to say though, ever since I made the decision to get myself the Alpha Smart, it’s all I can think of. Well not all. The hottie I’m lusting after factors in there a fair bit. And my manuscript occupies a significant amount of space. But other than that, I’m all over wanting the Alpha Smart. If I can get the money together before January, I might just make it an early birthday present.

I'll be bummed if ball gets cancelled, but I don't really relish playing in the rain either.

I love rainy weekends. It doesn't bother me to stay inside and hunker down with a good book, a good movie, or my laptop.

Kelly, About the AlphaSmart. I have a couple of friends who bought them and now they rarely use them. You might consider Ebay, which has a ton of them for sale, as an option. If you could get one for $25 and see if you like it, you might want to get a Dana for your birthday, which is a more expensive AlphaSmart but I think I'd like it better as it shows several lines of text. It all depends on whether or not you would actually use it in the long run.
