Ladies & Gentlemen - Start Your Engines

Today, we go-cart! Woo hoo! I haven't been go-carting since I was 14 years old and I went to PEI with Maxx's family. Can't quite remember how I did but if my early driving skills were any indication I'm sure it was interesting to watch. I do remember it was loads of fun. Our office decided to do the outing so we will all be competing for the grand prize. Not sure what that is other than bragging rights. I'm pretty competitive, but I think I'll be happy if I just don't wipe out going around the first corner. Then we're off for Chinese Food. Yum.

Meanwhile, in other updates...

Reading: Finished Tell Me Lies by Jennifer Crusie. Loved it. Loved loved loved it. I think I even loved it more than Welcome to Temptation. Charlie All Night is up next in the reading pile. They all came in at once at the library so I'm trying to plow through them before my three weeks are up. I have Fast Women up next after Charlie and two more that are waiting on hold at the library. I still want to purchase the books. These are definitely keepers, but I'll have to do that bit by bit as cash allows. Plus Julia Quinn and Lisa Kleypas have books coming out that I need to get as well. Hmm...maybe if I give up food, use the grocery money for books I can kill two birds with one stone. Lose weight and stock my bookshelves.

Watching: Watched Derailed last night. Ugh. Horrible movie. So predictable I had the ending written in the first ten minutes. And I don't know what happened to Clive Owen but he didn't even look that good in this movie. Maybe it was his character. Charlie the Wuss. Lord. I'm going to have to go back and watch King Arthur again to redeem my impression of him. I also watched Tears of the Sun with Bruce Willis and Cole Hauser. I mostly just got that for the Cole Hauser eye candy but it turned out to be an amazing dramatic movie about the genocide going on in Nigeria at the time. Very moving.

Stressing: Just got an email from the docu-crew. They want some of my chapters from D&B and Outlaw Bride to use in the documentary, especially the love scenes. That freaks me out a little because D&B is in very rough draft and Outlaw Bride is in pieces thanks to the revisions. I can probably pull something together but if it is going to be used on the film, I want it to be in the absolute best shape possible. I don't want it to be half-assed and some editor hearing it and thinking, "I'd never look at her stuff, it's crap."

Percolating: Came up with a fabulous new idea for another contemporary that hit me while I was at work yesterday. Jotted down some ideas, more came, and then whamo--whole new idea fell in my lap.

The SIL didn't like Derailed either.

That's great news about the documentary. And Stacy is right - there's nothing like the high of a new story idea. Well, maybe a Hugh Jackman movie. *gg*

I can see your point on the rough draft stuff going into the doc, but I think your overall impression in the doc will have greater impact than the voice-over writing example. Besides, your rough draft stuff is very top drawer. I wouldn't hold back from sending them some.

Ooh, go-carting! We did that for my daughter's sixth birthday party this year. Surprisingly, my mom was the most competitive of all of us! And I was in last place the majority of the time...but it was lots of fun!

You'll get your chapters pulled together, I have no doubt. :-)

I went to the theater to see Derailed. What a waste of money! Clive Owen needs to be in a good movie. The best one was King Arthur. To me, Closer and Beyond Borders was as bad as Derailed!
