New Beginnings

I love starting something new. I love the thrill you get as ideas pummel your brain yelling - 'Pick me! Pick me!' --and you scramble to get them all jotted down before new ones come along and trample them into an unrecognizable mass of jumbled words.

I love discovering the nuances of new characters as they reveal themselves to you bit by bit, word by word. Oftentimes they surprise you, bringing their own set of baggage you hadn't considered when they first showed up parked on the doorstep of your imagination. I love seeing where these people live, what they wear, eat, see and feel. Mostly what they feel. I love crawling into their psyches and poking to see where it hurts, tickling to see what makes them laugh, pinching to see what makes them cry. I love to open the lid on whatever it is they are trying to hide and glimpse what is lurking in the dark recesses, what they don't want you to see. The only thing I don't love is that I never have enough time to spend with them each day, but perhaps absence really does make the heart grow fonder, because each morning, bright and earlier, I can't wait to get back down to my computer and dive in all over again.

I have new stories whirling round in my head too. But they have to wait till after Christmas. Too much to do right now AND I really need to rest my wrists.

Good luck with your new stories :-)

I'm a sucker for a new proposal. Problem is, once I have a few circulating, until I get my would-be-interested-in-the-complete, I tend to bounce around until the story grabs me by the throat. I have two stories going at the moment. I need to stick to one, but I work on both every night. Does that count as dedication, do you think? :)

Think of it as multi-tasking.
