Denial - Not Just a River in Egypt

If any of you watch the show Alias, and didn't see last night's episode but plan to watch it later, you probably will want to skip this posting.

Alias premiered last night. It is still my favorite show, but last night the rumors came true and it appears they killed off Vaughan. I'm vehklempt. I'm distressed. I'm ready to pen a scathing memo to J.J. Abrams and give him a piece of my mind at the travesty that is the death of Michael Vaughan. Except...

Except I don't think he's really dead, and any of you who watch Alias know that this is entirely possible. For starters, my first thought was that she already had Sydney's first fiancé murdered in the very first episode, so doing this again, murdering her second fiancé, makes no sense. It's repetitive, and J.J. Abrams is too creative to fall back on repetition. And Sydney's reactions were a bit...off when he died. There was some type of interaction going on with the eyes between Vaughan and Sydney during the scene right before his death.

Yes, I know, the guy had been shot like, I don't know, twenty times or something, and sure, sure, it was kinda at close range, but whatever. Work with me here people. You see, the reason he was killed was because these people wanted the Prophet Five book and to kill anyone who knew anything about it. If they thought Vaughan was still alive, they would continue to hunt him down and kill him. And it's not like he's in any condition to protect himself. The only way to save him was to make it look like he was dead. Soooo, I'm thinking, that right before Vaughan drifted off, when Sydney kissed him, she slipped him something (other than the tongue, because the guy was pretty messed up so it wasn't that kinda kiss). Anyhoo, it could have happened. They did it to Sloane, they can do it to Vaughan! Yes then we have the repetition argument but let's ignore that for now.

And at the funeral, again there was this whole silent interplay between Sydney and her dad, almost like they knew something no one else did. So my thinking is that they made it look to everyone like Vaughan is dead, so that they can secret him off somewhere to heal and recover. Meanwhile, Sydney will go after the bad guys and waste them and make it safe for Vaughan to come out of hiding so they can live their happily ever after.

That's my theory and I'm sticking to it. What is Alias without the love story between Sydney and Vaughan?! Well, it's still a great show, but c'mon!! I refuse to live in a world where Sydney and Vaughan do not get a happy ending, so for now I'm going to live by the river Denial where my theory is correct and all will be right with the world.

I will hold off penning my scathing memo to Mr. Abrams for now. I do however think I should send J.J. an email and tell him if he doesn't hurry up and bring back Sark to the show, I'm not going to be responsible for my actions...

I hope your theory is correct because even though I've never really watched Alias, I know that Sydney and Vaughn love each other, so they MUST have a happy ending.

I loved season 3 because that had Sark in almost every episode and he's my favorite. Damn I hope they plan on bringing him back.

No, I always did too. Sark's fun no matter who he hooks up with.

See - I knew it! Yippee! Now if I can just find out if Sark is coming back I'll be a happy camper.
