Neck Crackage, Story Evolution & Chocolate

Well the chiropractor was fun, and I actually mean that believe it or not. Can’t recall ever saying it was fun going to the doctor before. But it was pretty neat getting the thermal scans done and seeing where the problem areas were. The doctor (who happens to be pretty hot too, always a plus) goes, “Have you been in an accident, I usually don’t see it this bad unless you’ve been in an accident.” Hmm…well my whole life has been a series of accidents, so I’ll with yes on that one. On the plus side, he says I’m fixable (I bet I’d never get a shrink to say that!). It was all very educational seeing how things work. He was very thorough in explaining what he did, what he could do for me, etc. Unlike my medical doctor who simply writes out a prescription and says, “Here, take this.”

That’s my big beef with the general practitioners. I don’t want to throw a bunch of drugs into my system to mask the symptoms. I want to find out what’s causing the problem and fix it. I'm action girl, not denial girl. Why is this such a strange concept to the GPs?? And in the 7 or 8 years I’ve been dealing with this back/neck pain, not once has my doctor ever suggested I see a chiropractor about the issue. She sent me for physio, which made it worse, but never suggested the chiro route, which really pisses me off, because I kept telling her I knew it was spine/nerve related due to the type of pain it was causing. Grrr…

Anyway, I’m glad I’m on the right track now and there is an end in sight. I had one adjustment yesterday and go back for another today and tomorrow. I thought the cracking noise would freak me out, but it didn’t. So it’s three days a week for 4 weeks. Well five actually, since one of those weeks I’ll be in Reno. Woo hoo!

Meanwhile, back at the ranch…(okay, it’s not a ranch, it’s just a little room in my basement…whatever, a girl can dream…), I started the FD30 story evolution worksheets today for D&B. I should be doing research for the next 5 days, but I’m mixing it up a bit. I’m going to do my research in the evenings and on the lunch hours when I’m not getting myself re-adjusted (my boss was wondering if I could get an attitude adjustment while I’m there too, I told him no, this was as good as it gets so suck it up and deal with it buddy). I’m going to need more than 2 days to do the story evolution and I don’t want to lose time. Plus, I think I can do the story evolution with the amount of research I already have done, and incorporate the rest when I do the scene capsules. That will save me some time and still allow me to get the story outline done before Reno. This morning I re-read the section in FD30 on how to do the story evolution, reviewed my summary outline and came up with some new ideas, then re-ordered the ideas and put them into a sensible sequence. Tomorrow I will start plotting those out into the Story Evolution worksheet.

My workouts have been going really good. It’s nice to be able to do some strength training again, especially since Reno and the docu-camera are only 3 weeks away. Unfortunately, my boss is evil as well as sarcastic (no wonder we get along so well...). He keeps bribing me to go down to the store to buy him two cans of coke. If I get him the coke, I can also buy one of those big Cadbury Almond bars, the ones about twice the size of a normal chocolate bar. Then he eats one strip of the bar and gives the rest to me. I keep thinking - next time I’ll tell him to get his own damn Coke, but the pull of the chocolate has proved too strong. It’s sitting on my desk right now taunting me, calling my name. I tell myself I’ll only eat ⅓ of it and leave the rest for tomorrow and the next day. Pffttt…who am I fooling? The minute I take my first bite that bar is as good as gone. If I end up looking fat on film, my boss is going to hear about this. I blame him entirely.

So glad the chiro helped. It did wonders for my neck problems about a year ago.

Can't help you on the chocolate addiction. I'm weird there, too since I hate chocolate. Of course, it could be because they give me migraines so bad I have to go to the ER. :S

Too late on the chocolate. It is resting comfortably in my belly. Although my other boss did come over to my desk to tell me something and got distracted by the chocolate. I made him eat some of it.

Ooh, chocolate! Yum - I could use a shot of it myself. I guess I did have a small square of cheesecake that one of my co-workers brought in (evil girl).
I'm glad the chiro is helping - and yes, it always helps when they're hot! (so is mine - heh).

Oooh, the chocolate sounds delicious. I'm a complete sucker for Cadbury's.

So glad there is an end in sight to your pain!

My husband swears by his chiropractor. Glad to hear yours is helping you out.

Chocolate can be evil. It's pull is irresistible, no matter how hard we try to turn away. And that Rocky Road ice cream was pulling reeeeeaaally hard last night.
