Not Much of a Juggler

Things have been super busy here of late hence my lack of blog posts. It seems the more I try to keep up the more behind I get. I realized I was juggling a few too many balls and needed to set a few down and concentrate on the important stuff.

So I’ve decided to opt out of soccer, at least on a regular weekly basis. I may sub if they need me really bad, but that’s it. The time of the games made it hard to do anything else on Sunday and I realized I needed my days off to do whatever I wanted more than I needed to play soccer. The two day break is all I get and scheduling Sunday with a bunch of games that pretty much eradicated my chance of doing anything else that day just wasn’t working for me. So I kept the softball games since they were in the morning and left me the rest of the day open, and decided to let soccer go.

I also cancelled cable. Granted, this was more of a money saving item than a time issue, but I realized I hadn’t actually watched much tv since the writers strike and since it was costing me nearly $40 a month, it seemed a bit silly to pay all that money for something I wasn’t using. And while I was at it, I cancelled my land line as well and switched to using my cell phone as my main number, saving me another $20/month.

As for the revisions – I’m finally feeling better about them. After breaking them down by POV and going through all of Devlin’s scenes at once and all of Isabel’s at once has made it much easier to see any inconsistencies. I’ve finished Devlin and now I’m nearly halfway through Isabel. I took one morning off work this week to do nothing but write and made a good dent in it, and I’m taking another one next Monday. Hopefully that will get me to the end. I have added some new scenes which need writing and taken out others that no longer were needed or served no purpose. Once that’s done, I’ll type in the changes, do up the synopsis and send it out the door. Hopefully I’ll manage that by end of the month.

Also, its been almost a year since Coop died and I'm starting to get the itch to get a new dog. I've considered quite a few and I'm thinking of a Westie, but to be honest, I just keep coming back to the Golden Retreiver. There's just something about them that I can't shake. Either way, it won't be until next year that I get one. Too much traveling this year. Once things are settled down early next year I'll make a final decision.

And that’s what I’ve been up to. Now, to zip around to all my blog buddies and see what you’ve all been up to!

PS - Saw Kung Fu Panda last night and it was hilarious!!

We've got a golden retriever next door and he wags his whole body with joy! Love him.

By the way, there may or may not be two links to Richard Armitage clips over at my blog tomorrow. Okay - there will be...

My SIL just got a golden retriever. Her dog died quite a while ago and I can tell the dog has made her very happy.

I was just thinking about Coop the other day.

Glad the revisions are going well!

Hope you find some time to relax during all that craziness!!

You sound calm and in control. Good for you!

Wow, a year since Coop died? Already? It doesn't seem that long to me. To you, it probably does though.

Sounds like a good call on the soccer.

And glad the revisions are going well. I know it's been frustrating but you're on the home stretch now. Woo hoo!

Sounds like you're finding a balance. I cut back on my Blockbuster DVDs - they were sitting here so long, so I went to one at a time. I'm not QUITE ready to give up the cable, though we found a provider that saved us $80 a month!! Of course, now the ds is making up for it with his cell.

I got rid of my land line last year and haven't missed it at all.
Also I have basic cable, just 13 channels. You will be amazed at what you won't miss.

I no longer think I'm doing revisions. I'm writing a new book.
LOL!!

I keep thinking we'll cancel the landline...but we never do. We have to keep one for a fax line for work, but the house line could go...
