Has Anyone Seen My Deadline?

Ah yes. That lofty promise of getting this manuscript done by March 31st or die trying. Yes. Well. Hm.

Okay, obviously the die trying part didn't pan out. Just as well. Seems a little silly to get this far into the manuscript revisions and expire before I finish. On the plus side, the manuscript is shaping up nicely. I feel it is much stronger than when I started, and will be a much better book before I'm done.

Which will be April 30th.

Seriously.

I'm devising a plan of action. And, in truth, I actually only have 100 pages left to edit, most of which require only minor changes (I hope...). Surely I can get that done in two weeks, do a read through and clean up and then get this baby out the door to Berkley before they forget they asked for it.

I can do this. It's nose to the grindstone time. Everything else will have to take a backseat for the time being. No new courses, no hobbies that must be attended to, no missing writing days. Perhaps a bit of evening or weekend time for edits if required.

Mark my words - April 30th or earlier and this thing is done. I swear.

good luck with this! It seems like a reasonable deadline. You know, or die trying...

Don't be too hard on yourself. Sometimes life gets in the way. I'm sure you'll get it done by the end of April.

Now if you could just kick my butt in getting my short story started that's due in less than a month...

I've never met a more nose-to-the-grindstone writer than you, Kelly. I know April 30th will have a celebration post attached to it!

I have flexible goals too. Things come up and we need to switch priorities. As long as you are still working on it and have a plan, it is all good :) Good luck!!!

Go Kelly!! Better to take the extra time than send it out before it's ready.
