Snow, Sleet & Rain

They say in Nova Scotia that if you don't like the weather, wait five minutes and it will change. Yesterday afternoon it began to snow. So I waited. And it turned to sleet. Waited some more and now we have rain. I'm waiting for the Siberia like conditions to hit so everything will freeze and make the drive to work a real challenge. My boss seems to have it in his head that I hate going to work on storm days. He's right, although in my defense once I was actually sick, the other day I threw my back out shoveling and couldn't move, and the third time it happened the RCMP were telling people to stay off the roads. And me, as a people, listened. I like my job just fine, but not enough to die for it. Or crash my car and pay higher insurance premiums. But my boss has already told me he needs me at work tomorrow (hmm...preemptive strike on his part?), so I'll be driving to work, holding my breath and hoping everyone else drives according to the conditions. What are the chances?

On my desktop at work, I have a beautiful white sand, blue water picture of some exotic beach that I really wish I was at right now.

In writing, I spent last week on my couch pumping out the page count using my Alphie. I was surprised to see what the page count was each day when I transferred it to my computer. I think that might be a good way to do things when I'm writing new material. Makes doing my blog entry a bit wonky because I normally do that at the end of my writing time, but if I'm not on the computer, you may see me a little less. Or I'll post in the evening. Or on my lunch hour. Eh, I'll find some time. Like this morning - I blogged while I ate breakfast. I do love to multi-task.

It's snowing here again too!

And yeah, Alphie does make it easy to up the wordcount without you noticing. Glad you're finding him so useful :-)

That alpha sounds like a great writing tool. I usually write first draft long hand but I'm trying to write directly on the computer to speed up my writing.

I think your boss should give you the day off. Can't you set up an office at home and telecommute? At least on bad days?

So, how was the drive in for you this morning, Kell? Seemed to me like there was actually less traffic on the roads, and the roads weren't bad.

Hopefully, the ride home won't be bad, either...

I called my supervisor this morning to see if the office was open, and even asked him to give me a drive in. He was over to pick me up in 20 minutes. "Driving Miss Daisy", he called it!

My drive wasn't too bad today. The road crews actually cleared the roads during this snow storm (we had a BIG stink about this in the local paper since they didn't do their job during the last snow storm.)

I'm very grateful that I can work at home on the days I need to.

Hope the drive home isn't too bad, Kelly.

I like writing in different spots throughout the house, so it sounds convenient for doing that. I may have to invest in one in the future.

I want an Alphie! It sounds wonderful.

Good for you on the word count!

Be careful driving

The weather is just as crappy in Ontario this week. I just hope my flight home to NS tomorrow doesn't get cancelled.

Yuck, I can't imagine having to drive in such lousy weather. Be careful.

I thought about getting an Alpha, but now I'm thinking about getting a smaller laptop. Hubby was thrilled when I told him.
