Sleep Deprivation - Part 26

I don't know what it is that causes my sleep patterns to get all out of whack, but boy when they do, it ain't pretty. It's been nearly two weeks since I've had a decent night's snooze. It takes forever to fall asleep, then when I finally do slip into the netherworld of nighty-night, I don't stay. I bounce around, usually have some weird, disjointed dream that sadly involves absolutely no nakedness on anyone's part, and then I come racing back to the present day. Present day usually being around 4:00 in the AM. Ugh.

I'd love to just take a day and rest. Park my butt on the couch and do nothing more strenuous than fetch a cup of tea and take a three hour nap. But alas, crap...I mean work prevents me from taking a day. Deadlines and such. You know, that stuff I do that pays the bills til the writing gods smile upon me and grant me my wishes.

No wonder I'm writing such drudge of late. I can barely see straight, let alone come up with prosaic prose that leaps off the page and says 'Buy me! Buy me!' Right now, it's muttering "Hide me, Hide me."

Meanwhile, in other news, I'm halfway through The Secret History of the Pink Carnation by Lauren Willig. This book is awesome! It's this seamless mixture of historical romance, spies, intrigue, humor, and chick-lit (but not the shallow I bought more shoes than I know what to do with kind) all rolled into one. I also went to see The Holiday and all I can say is, how soon does it come out on DVD because this is a definite purchase. I loved it. Loved it, loved it, loved it.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a hot cup of ginger lemon tea awaiting me. Decaf, of course. Not that it seems to matter...

Ugh! There is nothing worse than when that happens. I can't write at all when I haven't gotten a good night's sleep. My brain simply won't function. I hope thinggs settle down for you soon.

I can't wait to see The Holiday. I've heard nothing but good things about it.

Hope you can get some sleep this weekend, Kelly. There's nothing like cozying up on the couch for a good nap.

I hate insomnia. I almost never get it, so when I do, I'm miserable. I feel for you. My son has real problems falling asleep. I gave him a Celtic music CD I picked up at Target and had him play that when he went to bed. It helps. Maybe some self-guided imagery when you go to bed?

I loved the Holiday. I was reluctant to see it. Every time I think of Jude Law, all I can think of is ManHo (is that two words or one?) But, it actually made me forget about the nanny incident and actually like his character.

Kelly - hmm, as you're now approaching the big 40, my guess would be your hormones (like mine) are interfering with your sleep patterns. Most of my friends within our general age range have the same issue. Stupid hormones.

Glad you're liking Pink Carnation. I wasn't quite so impressed - email me if you want me to send you my review.

My mum saw The Holiday and said it was fun. I'll have to wait for the DVD (it's not showing up here).

I wish I could blame it on hormones, but this has been a life long thing for me. I go through bouts of it. Then eventually I get so tired I just crash and everything's good again til the next bout.
