Ouch. I Hurt.

Well my back is still hurting like a sonofabitch. No other way to put it. I had about half a day where I started feeling human again but by last night it was sore again. It’s weird. For the first five minutes when I wake up I feel okay, but once I start moving around the pain comes raging back. It seems to have located itself mostly down near the left quadrant of my lower back, taking my hip with it. My chiropractor is on vacation this week too. And Friday is our office Christmas party which involves a hay ride, dinner and mechanical bull riding. Don’t ask. Think I’ll be skipping the festivities and staying home to soak in a hot bath with a good book. It’s about the only place I’ve found so far, other than unconsciousness, where my back feels okay.

Needless to say, I haven’t been updating regularly because I haven’t been sitting at the computer in the mornings. I’ve been working on my plot for Finding Home and creating scene capsules. I’m still trying to nail down the plot before I go any further with the writing. My critique partners have finished the critique on The Outlaw Bride as of Tuesday (sniff...it feels so final...), so now I have to start pumping out new writing to hand off to them. Oh the pressure...

Anyway, since I'm not producing much at this end, take a look over at Argh Ink. Jennifer Crusie has a great post on mapping your story.

...mechanical bull riding?

Yeah, sounds like something to stay away from, even if your back wasn't bothering you.

Hope your back feels better soon.

Wow. Would a trip to the chiropractor help? Back pain is never fun. Feel better soon!

I hope you're feeling better soon. Take it easy.

Oooo, poor you. Hope that back is better soon! Have you tried Robaxil? I've found it helps me when my back gets really bad.

And thanks for the link to Jenny's post - very cool collage there!

Take care. Oh, and you should be able to get TGK. And its sequel, The Scarlet Lion, will be available at the end of January!!!!!

I love Jenny's collaging ideas - I find it really helps. Plus, it's another way to procrastinate and not write. She and Bob are doing a year long Writing Workshop on her blog in 2007, looks good.

Hope your back feels get better soon. If you'd just waited for today the mild weather and rain would have melted it. People across the street did that, just drove right over that pile of hard snow that the plow shoved into their driveway. I think my kids would have protested having to walk through it to get to school though or I might have tried it.

I went in and visited temp chiropractor covering for my regular guy. Took some of the pressure off and it feels a little better but he said to keep ice on it. Ugh. Why can't I put heat on it. Heat I like. Cold...not so much.

Hmmmm Mechanical Bull Riding...maybe that's the cure for a sore back!!! But seriously I feel for you....nothing worse.

On another note, Erin wants to know how Cooper made out on Monday night?

Cooper, being the world's most awesome dog, slept through my absence and left no nasty surprises on the floor for me when I finally dragged my butt thru the door 3.5 hours later than usual.

Kudos to Cooper!

And, since your back is feeling a bit better, does that mean you're gonna give the mechanical bull a go?

Mechanical bull riding...yeah, that's really not something one often associates with Xmas parties.

Let's not get crazy. I'm still liking the tub soaking with good book idea over an evening with my co-workers. Now if we were horseback riding instead of hay riding, that would be an entirely different story. I'd show up for that regardless of the pain!

Ditto for me. I'd rather soak in a hot tub and read a book (but you have to have a glass of wine there as well)rather than an xmas party. I am 1/2 way through Snow and Ashes and it is the best one of the series yet. But don't get me wrong, I love book 1.

Awww, but just imagine the experience of riding a mechanical bull...you could use that experience in your writing!

Or, at least, you could have entertaining stories of your coworkers on the bull. ;)

Hmmmm if you take Erin's suggestion then you can really be off work for a while with your back injury and am able to write all day long for a change!!!

Nah, she probably wouldn't be able to sit in a chair long enough to do any writing.

Kelly, you could get someone to take dictation for you, and you could dictate your writing! Preferably someone Christian Bale-like?

And he would have to be scantily dressed, perhaps a fig leaf!!!

Chris, are you trying to distract Kelly from her writing?

Oh, and this dictation taker should also be able to give massages & do chiro-work too, Kelly!

Don't miss the party, just skip the bull. Sounds like pressure on your sciatic nerve. I get that all the time. A little acupressure (not acupuncture!) and a few pain killers usually do the trick.

You can always rest AFTER the party. And don't sneeze. Ouch.

Erin & Christine, I really like where you're going with this. Its nice how you have my best interests at heart. Now...about this manservant, Christian Bale lookalike...can I order that on line?

Anonymous said...

Aww, you know we just want what's best for you Kelly!

As for ordering, yeah, sure ya can. I think the website is www.HaYeahDreamOn.com or something.

Maybe if you found Christian Bale's official website and offered him the position via email...

Sorry to hear about the back - hope it gets better soon. And a hot bath/good book is wonderful at any time.

And the Christian Bale idea sounds wonderful. Could I find Hugh Jackman at that site?

Hmm. Yeah, I think I saw Hugh Jackman there, too...but without the Wolvie sideburns. ;)
