Meme: Things About Me

Alright so blogger is being an ass about pictures again today, so my funky pumpkin will go unseen.

Meanwhile, Julie tagged me to list some of my life experiences. The point being by listing them we'll know who to contact if we need specific expertise for something we're writing.

  1. I interpret dreams. All modesty aside, I'm quite good at it. I seem to have a knack for it that I can't quite explain. I also get premonitions. I can't explain that either.
  2. My favorite great-uncle was murdered. He owned a dairy farm and when he went down to milk the cows early in the morning, someone came up behind him and shot him twice from behind. No one was ever arrested. The police have their supsicions on who did it. I have mine. At the funeral the news crews were filming. It seemed a surreal experience.
  3. I got to take part in the documentary Who's Afraid of Happy Endings, which gave me a whole new perspective on who things are filmed and what goes into it.
  4. I spent 4 years in a rather deep depression from the age of 18 - 22. Or as I like to describe it, one year of falling into the depression, one year of wallowing in it, and two years climbing out of it. The depression was brought on from a situation and not a chemical imbalance, so thankfully it never reoccured and I learned enough during that time to prevent falling into another one when things get bad.
  5. I learned to write fairly neatly with my left hand because I kept breaking things on my right side, like my collarbone, fingers...
  6. I could read by the time I was four. I remember reading the word 'suspicous' and realized if I could read that word, I could read anything.
  7. I have a complete phobia about sharks. I was also trained as a lifeguard.
  8. I'm about to hit 40 and have never been married or have children - so if anyone is wondering what the single life is like after all your friends have married and procreated, just give me a shout.
  9. I'm a middle child. One older, one younger and me in the middle. And the whole 'middle child syndrome'? There's a reason they have a name for it. It's not just in your imagination...
  10. I'm a senior belt in tae kwon do.

"PLEASE LEAVE THE FOLLOWING IN ALL 'PEOPLE COLLECTION' POSTS:Remember that it isn't always the sensational stuff that writers are looking for, it can just as easily be something that you take for granted like having raised twins or knowing how to grow beetroot. Mind you, if you know how to fly a helicopter or have worked as a film extra, do feel free to let the rest of us know about it :-)"

You're a fascinating person Kelly. I remember the news surrounding your great uncle's death. I always think, in those circumstances that the police know who did it but don't have enough evidence to make an arrest.

As for being single at 40. A strange thing will happen in a few years. Those kids will be grown and your friends will be free again and calling you up to do things.

Wow Kelly. You have an amazing background, and I suddenly feel very boring. :)

Cool answers, Kelly :-) It's always neat to learn about people and their lives.

I've always wanted to learn the martial arts. Unfortunately, I don't think I have the discipline for it. But I'd love to learn that type of self-defense.

Those are some seriously interesting facts. That's horrible about your uncle. I hope some day they can find some evidence to charge someone.

I didn't know you did Tae Kwon Do! That's just too cool!

Kelly, your blog is honest and refreshing and I admire your candor.

And about the dreams? Me too! It's a freaky thing, isn't it?

Wow, I picked the right person to tag! Thanks for sharing such fascinating experiences.

I broke my right arm a couple years ago, and had to write left handed for about ten weeks. Never really did get the hang of it...
