The Closet Monster

For starters, the weather for my four day weekend could not have been more beautiful. Sunny and warm for four days straight. I couldn't have asked for better and I managed to get out for a walk each day. I had a beautiful picture of autumn in Nova Scotia for any of you who haven't been to this edge of the world before, but blogger is being a pain in the posterior and wouldn't let me load it.

Anyway, since I had four days off and no set plans, I decided it was as good a time as any to get my closets and spare rooms cleaned out. I went to town. Five garbage bags full of clothing that I no longer wore or that no longer fit were dropped off at the Salvation Army. I also uncovered some clothes I had set aside. Two pair of pants are too big but can be tailored easy enough. And I also found a skirt I had bought too small because it was on sale (something I almost never do). But since I've lost weight, it now fits. Yay!

Five more bags of garbage are sitting in my laundry room waiting for the Friday pick-up. My stash of yarn is now organized all in one room (yes, surprisingly it did all fit into one room). My books are in another. The blankets for Project Linus that need to be labeled and delivered have their own closet in the hallway.

Laundry was done, bathrooms cleaned, house vacuumed from top to bottom, and a stash of veggie and bean soup done up. I editted four more chapters of The Outlaw Bride and even found some time to pop out and do a little Christmas shopping. I also and worked on some Christmas knitting projects.

And I even got in a couple of turkey dinners. Maxx did up her first turkey, so I popped down on Sunday and had a feast there. Then when I got home my brother called and asked me over for the following night for leftovers. Or as he called it, Turkey Dinner Redux.

Sunday night I watched the movie, The Family Stone. I'd heard some negative comments about this movie, I think surrounding how it ended, but I loved it. I thought it was great. Maybe I just identified with it coming from a quirky family myself.

Then last night Maxx and her daughter popped over since Starbucks had the audacity to close at 7 pm and we hung out for a while drinking coffee (which mean, you guessed it, I didn't sleep one pitiful wink last night). I showed off my fabulously clean closets to ensure I had witnesses. Hey, who knows how long I can keep them this way?

Now it's back to work. Sigh. I want another four day vacation.

Four day weekends are wonderful and a pain all at once. I never seem to get done what I want to get done. But I don't get to rest either! I'm hoping I'll get to at least get a chapter written with my last day off. :)

Time will tell.

Wow. Sounds like you got a TON done. Good for you. I would love to have a four day weekend. Alas, the next one won't be for a long time...

Sounds like a busy, but productive weekend! Glad you had fun :-) AND still ate turkey.

Re: avatars - I exported my code from the Avatars site again and it seems to be fixed. Very strange. I'm still seeing "you" and "Coop" outside a house.

Yeah, it was fine for a while and then the old one popped back. I tried exporting but that didn't do me any good. Figure I'll give it a few more days.

Your long weekend sounds idyllic. Glad to hear it was productive.

Now I'm all excited for my Thanksgiving weekend which is still many, many weeks away! Is it too soon to plan?

Dang, you were busy! Good for you!

I hated Family Stone, BTW - they were so MEAN.
