A dilemma.
The Emily allows you a 35 page submission. They are strict on the format to ensure each individual has the same amount of space allotted them. No sneaking in extra lines by using Times New Roman 12 pt. I commend them on their fairness, but it opens up an interesting problem. Where to stop.
Part of the judging includes points on ending your submission at a part of the story that makes the reader want to know what is coming up. I have two ways to go. I can cut out a scene and bring up the one to follow which allows me some of Devlin's POV for the judges to see. But it doesn't allow me enough room to get the most interesting point of that scene to end with. Or I can not use that scene and leave the cut scene which can be fixed to end better than it does now.
But I like idea #1 the best. And, unless I want to pay an arm and a leg for expedited delivery, I need to have this thing off in priority mail tomorrow. Any later and I won't make the October 4th deadline.
I have a feeling I'll be dragging my butt out of bed very early on a Saturday morning...

Good luck with making the final decision. :-)
I think I have to get up early tomorrow morning for my stepson's football game. Sigh...
I'd go with choice #1. Have done the same thing myself for contests :-)
Good luck getting everything finished and off in the post!!
Wow! They're tough. Good luck with the submission!
Good luck, Kelly! You'll probably be relieved when you finally get it sent off.
It's done, it's gone. Hopefully I didn't forget anything in the package. I can check the thing ten times over and still be paranoid I forgot something. It's being sent Xpresspost which takes 6 business days to get there, putting it in their hands by Oct 2nd. Provided all goes as planned. What are the chances of that?
I hope you chose whatever made you and your characters happiest. I'm sure you didn't forget anything. Good luck!
