Teacher, Teacher

I have apparently volunteered to do an educational session for this April's chapter meeting. I'm not sure how that happened. It must have been one of those sublime moments when my mouth was operating while my head was somewhere else entirely. Either way, I'm on the hook, and now the task is to settle on a topic and pull something together over the next couple of months. I went through back copies of RWR and read through the session list from Reno to see if anything popped out. They want me to do something on craft, but so far we have plotting and love scenes sewn up. POV, query, synopsis were all take care of in the past six months. I did characterization last year. Hmm...

Finally I narrowed it down to pacing or revision. But would there be enough on pacing to fill the allotted time? Probably not. Revision? Now there's something I have some experience with! I have a few different systems I've used that I can roll out and hope the others find useful.

Now all that remains is to find the time to put this presentation together. I know one thing--I better have handouts. My group has a strange obsession with handouts and God help the person that shows up to give an educational session without them. Why, we'd have a mutiny on our hands that not even bags of chocolate could appease.

Well, as a warrior princess, I'm pretty certain you're going to be great as a teacher :-) And after your GH experience, you'll be able to give your chaptermates lots of valuable insight about revisions!!

Good luck with that presentation. At least you have lots of time to prepare...and print the handouts *g

I have to give two presentations tonight - a mini session on craft and another one on exercises for writers - the physical kind.

Revision is a great topic, BTW. You'll do great!
