I Survived!

I survived my first meeting as President.

Actually it went off without a hitch, and to top it off, we had a great presentation from Deb Hale on the 13 Romance Plots that the group really got into and I walked away with three new story ideas. Can't beat that.

Unfortunately I didn't win the book raffle for Deb's upcoming February release by Harlequin Historicals, The Bride Ship, so I have to wait a few weeks to get my own copy.

The story takes place in Halifax where I live. It seems a ship full of women arrive in town and Governor Sir Robert Kerr is none too pleased, believing they are there to embark on a more scandalous endeavor than finding themselves husbands. A mistake that has him challenged to a duel by the women's unlikely chaperone, the lovely widow, Mrs. Jocelyn Finch.

I can't wait to see the sparks fly between these two and to read a story that unfolds on familiar turf as historic Halifax comes to life on the printed page. Deb has a wonderful way of spinning a compelling tale and I'm sure this book will be no different.

Now, I just have to bide my time until Harlequin sends out its February releases...

It was a great meeting yesterday, Kelly! You were charming as always, and I think we're going to have a terrific year with you at the helm!

And I got some wonderful ideas from Deb's workshop as well which will help me with my next proposal.

Cheers!

Oooh cool! Deb has a new book!!!! I LOVED The Bonny Bride, also set in Halifax, so am really looking forward to this one :-)

And lucky you, for hearing Deb's workshop! I'll have to check her website - I know she usually does articles and posts handouts related to her workshops. Her Synopsis Suitcase workshop in NYC was one of the highlights of my conference :-)

Glad it went so well, Kelly! We all knew you'd do AWESOME.

My first meeting as president isn't until the 31st, but I"m trying to get prepared even now. I really want to infuse my chapter with new energy. It seems we've grown a big stagnant lately.

Ooops - I forgot to say "I knew you could do it!" re the meeting. Glad things turned out ok :-)

As for FDin30D - I'm with you - it's a great tool one can adapt for one's own use. Even Karen says that!!!
