Miscellaneous Meanderings

Strange Little Worlds: I realized this morning that the series I am currently working on which consists of four books, can easily have four more to come afterwards as more secondary characters are created. There's the mysterious earl who actually doesn't even put in an appearance until the end of book one, but yet is the catalyst that gets things started in Desire & Brimstone. Then there is my heroine's younger sister, and the younger brother and sister of the hero from book two. I seem to have created an entire world without actually meaning to, but I'm kind of pleased that I did just the same. I think I'm going to like this little world and I may want to stay for a while, although I will probably take a few forays back to the Old West just to finish up a few ideas I have there as well.

Just Like Christmas: As I was picking up my friend, Julia, to go to our chapter meeting on Sunday, her husband came out to the car with her and handed me a poster. I unfurled it I realized it was a nice, big poster of Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne. I thanked him profusely after I wiped the drool off my chin. You know, most wives are lucky if their husbands remember their friends' names. Julia's actually remembers their obsessions. That's pretty impressive. Needless to say, Christian has been hung on the wall next to my computer for...ah...inspiration.

El Presidente: Well it's official. Starting in January 2006, I will be President of my RWA chapter. I've been VP for the past two years, which has been a lot of fun, but I have no idea what I've gotten myself into as President. Talk about flying by the seat of your pants and not having a clue. Good thing I have a great crew joining me on the executive committee...

Goals, Goals, Goals: I've decided to target April as having my first draft of Desire & Brimstone completed. I'm not entirely sure how feasible that is, but I'm hoping I can use the First Draft in 30 Days method to help me stay on track. I have all the scene capsules done and now I'm just fleshing it out scene by scene, but I also have to do a fair bit of research as well, so that might slow me down. Right now I'm writing and just putting anything that needs research or checking in brackets.

Kelly, you're going to be a terrific President and I just know you're going to bring lots of fresh new ideas to our chapter!!

I think I'll become mad with power. First the RWAC chapter, then total world domination.

I like the sound of the series you've come up with, and I'm not so surprised you've created an entire world. I would be more surprised if it stopped at one. Maybe that can be my bedtime story?

It was a dark and stormy night... you know I just realized, that is how Book 1 starts. Not those exact words obviously but it is dark and stormy.

I'm rather excited about being president of my chapter. I never anticipated being president for years and years - but when we had some "mean" girls (i.e. those who wanted to do everyting their way) finally left, the power shifted and I became VP. And our group is so much better now! I'm looking forward to it. :)

Oohh, Christian Bale...yum.

Isn't it always dark and stormy? If not physically...
