Things I Know For Sure

Thirty-eight years later, and these are the things I know for sure:

  1. Honor, integrity, fidelity and respect will never go out of style.
  2. Best friends really are forever.
  3. Never trust anyone who doesn't like animals.
  4. Nine times out of ten, hype is just hype.
  5. Eight times out of ten, your parents were probably right.
  6. If you think you can, you will. If you think you can't, you've defeated yourself before you've even started.
  7. Bad breath kills the mood.
  8. You may as well chase your dream, the time is going to pass anyway.
  9. Science can't explain everything.
  10. A backbone is irreplacable, both physically and mentally.
  11. True failure is never having tried at all.
  12. There's always one more story to tell.
  13. And finally, life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body; but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming - "WOO HOO! What a ride!"
