Boot Camp

To stave off my rapidly expanding middle, I made a bet with Maxx that I could lose 5 pounds by January 1st. Yes, that's right, lose 5 pounds over the holidays, not gain. Am I insane? Well, yes probably, but what else is new? Anyway, there's money on the line here. Cold, hard cash, which now that I have to replace two tires and two brake pads on my car I can hardly afford to give up. Granted we didn't bet huge sums of cash. I have to pay her $5 for every pound I fall short of the mark, but every cent counts here in Povertyville, so me and my treadmill have become closely reacquainted. You see, this is where my freakishly competitive nature will come in real handy. I so love to prove I can do something that even under normal circumstances would be a hard thing to accomplish. Normally it would take me at least twice that long to lose 5 lbs during a non-holiday timeframe. But I still think I can do it. And I love being able to prove that when I say I'm going to do something, it gets done. Even if I'm the only one listening.

Hmm, well I once lost 1lb over the holiday season, but not 5. Then again, if you have your own treadmill, I can't see why you won't manage it. As long as you watch the number of shortbread you eat *g*. Good Luck!

Glad the snow turned to rain for you guys!! And yes, I savoured the hot chocolate, though I was so warm from all the work, I decided against the fire.

I won't even bother trying to lose weight at this time of the year. Of course, I DID go to the gym three times last week and I'm planning to go tonight. But I'm hoping that my metabolism will be sufficiently high after my exercising in the next week to help me burn off those extra calories!

Treadmills at home are great. You can do it, Kelly!!!

Maxx is thinking perhaps she was a bit hasty and delusionally optimistic in agreeing to start this week. With apartment viewings and Xmas shopping, I'm having a difficult time trying to find a time slot to fit in any kind of workout. I would like to respectfully request delaying my part of the bargain to next week, with the priviso that if I am packing and/or moving, I may once again reschedule?

I anxiously await your reply.

Best regards,

Maxx
