Hi-ho, Hi-ho - Tis Off To Work I Go

And I ain't happy about it! I was supposed to have today off to complete my four day weekend, but because other people couldn't get their shit together I'm stuck going into work today to finish off my report. I could leave it to someone else to do, but because no one else in the office is as familiar with the formatting used, or can load it up to the intranet and profile it, that means it's up to me. Unless I want to spend the next day fixing a mess I didn't create.

Grrr...Argh...

I said I wanted Tuesday or Wednesday off in place of my missed day it so I can still get my manuscript finished. I believe I also mentioned chocolate should be sitting on my desk before noon on Monday.

As for the manuscript, I'm not as far ahead as I would like to be but I'm trying not to panic. I got a fair bit done on the weekend - almost finishing my read through. But I still have all the edits to input into the file. Somewhere behind me I hear the very loud tick tock of my time running out. I just wasn't happy with my first few chapters. They felt a bit blah. They needed some punch, some pizzazz. I went through the prologue and first chapter today and fixed some things up and feel more positive about it now.

I also managed to finish my read through for my RWAC compadre who is also entering the GH. It was a nice break reading her manuscript. She did a great job so it was an easy and enjoyable read.

My goal this week is to get my own manuscript to her by mid-week so she can return the favor, even if I have to do it in sections. Then I have to write the dreaded synopsis. Blech. Blech blech blech. Forget the time machine, I want a synopsis writing machine. Who's idea was the synopsis anyway? Can we find this person? I'd like to have a little sit down with them and express my displeasure.

Grrrr indeed! Let's hope they're Godiva chocolates!!!!

And I know what you mean about the clock ticking. I hear it here as well. And like you, am holding panic at bay. Just.

Good luck with getting the ms off to your cp and with the synopsis! If you ever do corner the person who invented synopses, can I have five minutes with him/her too?

Oh man. You DEFINITELY need chocolate. And a bonus! Tell 'em to throw a few extra bucks your way. ;-)

But you DID make progress on the novel this weekend - way to go!!!

I think you should have your coworkers star in a lynching scene in your next book.

Wouldn't it be great if both you and your campadre final in the GH?

Hope you get that day off so you can finish up.
